My students need a variety of interactive learning materials for math, social studies, and literacy. The Math Instant Learning Centers will be a great way for groups of children to work cooperatively towards developing math ideas.
I have spent the past five years of my career working with third graders in Philadelphia. Next year, in an exciting change, I'll be teaching our youngest students -- kindergarten and first graders! Eager to join our neighborhood school community, these students enter with bright smiles, a few nerves, curiosity and joy for all they are about to learn!
To be the best teacher I can be, I need exemplary ideas for first grade learning activities.
I want engaging learning activities for my kiddos to be excited about!
My Project
First graders are wiggly, interested, and hands-on!
To spark their curiosity and help them work out those wiggles, I am requesting a variety of different interactive learning tools.
I want our classroom to be an environment in which students are free to explore, because everywhere they go, learning will occur!
Movement squares will provide fun, literacy-based ways for students to rotate around the room to different stations. At each location, groups of students will work together, talking, listening, and "playing" with math manipulatives, interactive journals, and kinesthetic maps to learn about their neighborhoods. No matter the subjects, my first graders will be using their 21st century skills to cooperatively engage with academics in our room.
