This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My twenty first grade students come into the classroom each day fired up to learn. During reading, students visit various centers to review and practice concepts that need more reinforcement. The students love participating in these centers!
My students reside in a high poverty community, with a very diverse population.
Currently, 100% of the students at my school qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. I have students that are English Language Learners, students with disabilities, students that come from single parent homes, and students that are sometimes transient. Although my students come from various backgrounds, all come willing to learn. The students are excited and energetic to see what is next. Not a day goes by that I don't hear a student ask, "What will we be learning today?" or "What center will we have today?"
My Project
With the resources I am requesting for my classroom, my students would have the materials and manipulatives needed to participate in those centers to help practice concepts and review skills necessary to move on to second grade. The ink, paper, and laminating sheets will be used to help create centers, and print and laminate student work. The ink pads and stamps will be used while students practice spelling and read sight words, a basic skill needed for reading! Your donation will also help provide organizational drawers that will house the ink pads and stamps.
By providing my students with these items, you are helping make rich learning experiences possible.
These materials will be used daily and will provide my students with unique opportunities they might not otherwise have.
