My students need cubby shelves to organize their school supplies, light shades to cut down on the fluorescent lighting in the classroom, and two bean bag chairs.
School is hard. Spending most of the day in an environment that is too bright and uncomfortable can make learning even hard. Different lighting and comfortable alternatives to desks and chairs can be a changing point for students who struggle with academics.
I have a great class of enthusiastic 4th graders.
We are at a rural elementary school with about 500 students in the school. My fourth graders love to read. They do well with different options for sitting and location choices during learning activities.
My Project
The students will use the bean bag chairs in our classroom library to sit on during free choice reading time. We will use the light shades to cut down on the brightness of our florescent lights. We will use the pictures in our classroom to raise global awareness of other kids in the world. The bean bag chairs promote alternative choices for sitting rather than sitting in their desks all day. They can sit in the bean bag chair and use a clip board during instruction.
This project will help my students so that they can really enjoy coming to school and learning in my classroom.
I can't wait to see how excited they will be. The new bean bag chairs and light shades will really transform our class into a better learning environment.
