My students need nutrition books, journals to record their own eating and exercise habits, and display boards for their presentations.

My Students
Do you know how to "love" your heart? My students would like to find out how to love their hearts! We will be studying heart healthy habits, whether or not we do them, and what we can change to make our hearts healthier.
We are 6th graders from northern Illinois.
Our school is one of moderate poverty. The students love to be actively involved in the learning process. They love hands-on activities, projects, cooperative learning, and speakers. Like any middle school student, they LOVE when the projects are centered around their own lives.
My Project
We are requesting trifold display boards, journals, books and CDs about healthy nutritional habits. With these and other resources, such as guest speakers, students will be recording and analyzing their own nutritional behaviors and how they compare to the ideal heart healthy person. After students record their eating and exercise habits for two weeks, they will create presentations for parents and other students that will share out what they have learned about themselves.
Obesity is a huge problem for children in America.
We hope that this project will make students more aware of the choices they make each day in regards to their health. By centering the project around the individual, students will to be able identify personal behaviors that they could change to be healthier.
