Living Math Through Technology

My Students

I see about 70 faces through my classroom every day. On a typical day, my students participate in collaborative math activities as well as whole-group lessons by power point. My goal is for my students to experience math through technology and to be proficient in both.

My students are bright, energetic, and motivated 6th graders whose generation thrives on technology.

Our school is semi-rural and there are a handful of students in each of my classes who do not have internet access at home. I am trying to give my students every opportunity to succeed in school and life but to do so, they need to be able to manipulate and solve problems using technology.

My Project

Our classroom technology consists of a teacher computer, iPad, and a projector. My students need these Chromebooks to prepare for their technology-centered futures as well as the new computer-based standardized test. I endeavor to incorporate as much technology into my lessons as possible. This, however, is capped at interactive power points projected onto my whiteboard. With these computers, I will be able to integrate technology at an individual level and make math more meaningful for each student as they receive the instruction they need on their level.

If I have one computer for every two students, that will increase the individualized learning in my classroom and give my students the opportunity to learn how to utilize and manipulate technology on an every day basis.

By insuring that each child has adequate materials in class, we provide equal opportunity for learning. Technology is a motivator for my sixth graders, and your donation will go far in helping each of my children to have an outstanding learning experience.
