Play is our brain's favorite way of learning.
-Diane Ackerman
A typical day in our classroom entails a lot of learning through play. I strive to ensure that my students have fun each day while acquiring new skills.
My classroom is comprised of 18 students.
My students come from various backgrounds. Most of them have had little prior social interaction with other children. Many of my students are below average in the area of literacy and numeracy. Although these students come with very little, it is my expectation that they will leave my classroom with the necessary skills when they enter kindergarten.
My Project
My students will use these materials to learn the foundations of literacy and numeracy. Students will use alphabet materials to learn and recognize the alphabet as well as letter sounds. Students will match lowercase and uppercase letters. Students will match letter sounds with correct letters. Students will use numeracy materials to learn to count, sort, and make patterns.
Donating to the project will help my students achieve success this year.
It is my goal that all 18 of my students will recognize all of the alphabet, the majority of letter sounds, and be able to count to twenty. The literacy and numeracy materials detailed in this project will help them achieve this goal.
