My Students

The library isn't exactly a quiet place anymore, but we strive to make it a place where everyone can work, play and learn in the way that is best for them. Without headphones, in our K-2 school, this makes it particularly difficult!

We are a public K-2 Title One school in Michigan.

Our students are enthusiastic learners, readers and users of technology. We are fortunate enough to have a cart of laptops that circulates throughout the building for students to use, as well as during their technology class in the library.

My Project

At the K-2 levels, we use the laptops to watch and listen as much as we do to read! Students learn by listening to informational articles read aloud to them on World Book Online, by watching educational video clips, and by comparing fiction and nonfiction on the same topic on BookFlix. Headphones would help so much in comprehension and satisfaction with their technology experience.

When students learn more using technology, they are so much more enthusiastic about trying it again and sharing their experiences with others.
