Do you remember what it was like to wonder what books said...what words were? Many of my students experience that feeling every day. They so badly want to read books, but do not yet have the skills to do so.
Listening to books not only provides students a model for what reading should sound like when you read fluently, but it also introduces them to new words and experiences as they follow along!
My students attend a public school in a low income area. They deserve the chance to experience as many stories as possible!
My Project
New books, CDs, and headphones will be put to use during our literacy time. The students will be able to choose stories that they are interested in and follow along in the books to help build their own reading skills! They will be thrilled to have new books to listen to and new headphones that actually stay on their head!
I want my students to have every opportunity available to help them succeed.
Please help us add to our small listening center & turn it into something they can enjoy and learn from daily!
