This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember what it was like to be in Kindergarten? You probably have happy memories of being surrounded by books and of your teacher reading to you. You probably also had CDs of books and music, but unfortunately my kids don't have access to a listening center.

I have the privilege of teaching a group of 22 amazing kindergarten students.

During the past few weeks I had the pleasure of seeing them grow and develop into outstanding students. However, as the school year progressed, I noticed that my kids were anxious to read. My kids are discovering their love for reading. They love to explore the new worlds that can be found in a book. However, they also need to hear other people read to them to help them improve their fluency and their level of comprehension.

My Project

If my students receive the materials for a listening center, they will have access to great materials that will help them have access to a great education. As my students begin to read, they need examples of people reading to them. They will begin to improve their fluency, tone, and pronunciation.

My students come from a low income community.

The odds are against them. But with your help and the help of others, they will have the materials and resources that they need in order to become excellent readers and learners.
