Light, Camera, Action! Engaging Instruction With Technology
My students need iPads in our classroom to create digital projects, which will allow them to express themselves and demonstrate understanding of content.
Remember when you wrote book reports in elementary school or practiced skills by rote memorization and paper and pencil drills? Technology in the classroom has changed the way students demonstrate understanding and practice skills. Learning is now a vibrant, engaging process thanks to technology.
My students are fifth graders with amazing minds and hearts!
I am so fortunate to be able to hang out with them all day. Our school community is made up of teachers, aids, staff, lunch supervisors, and parent volunteers that all work together to provide a safe, engaging, and fun environment for our kiddos.
My Project
My students love to learn and ask questions. Their learning styles are varied. Some learn by listening, others by seeing, but what they have in common is their love of creative projects! We just finished creating video tutorials of famous naturalists. Then, students watch each other's tutorials and learned from their peers. We currently have three iPads in our class for 33 students. I would love to have three more so that each table group has one to use for group projects. Also, having more iPads allows kids to practice skills or look up information. I want to incorporate more digital projects into my teaching because I have seen how engaged and excited kids are when they are collaboratively creating projects.
Thank you for considering donating to my project.
You will help make a difference in our students' lives. I will continue to seek new and innovative ways to use technology to enhance my instruction. This summer, I have been chosen to attend Merit, where for two weeks, I will be learning from the best and brightest! I will be bringing that knowledge back to my classroom and school.
