Philip Green stated "Good, bad or indifferent, if you are not investing in new technology, you are going to be left behind." As a teacher, I believe this. At this time, I am interested in learning how to effectively film & edit videos for classroom use. To do that, I will become a student again.
I am currently a 4th grade team teacher with close to two decades of experience.
At this time, I teach Science, Social Studies and Math at a PreK-5th grade school. My school has 535 students. We have tried very hard to move forward with technology since 2009 with various technology school campaigns. I believe technology integration is a "must" in classrooms. I am fortunate because our school leaders feel the same. As our school technology motto says, we "keep our eye on technology" at all times! Like me, my students are drawn toward creative technology projects & we would love to create powerful, curriculum based video projects. As the teacher, I'd love to incorporate more with filming & editing. However to accomplish this, I need to learn more about the filming and editing process myself. As the student, I would need to learn to video with the requested camera, green screen & laptop. Once I accomplish the above, I can then incorporate the same lessons with my students on this journey.
My Project
As a technology based teacher, I know bringing resources such as a laptop to edit videos, in addition to a video camera and green screen equipment in my classroom, would enhance future lessons for my students. However, to successfully implement these resources, I first need to be a student again & learn about these tools. In speaking with my school tech leader, we set up a lesson plan in terms of Professional Development. This includes meeting 3 times (1 to 1) with her. My personalized journey would include how to film & edit effective lessons with the requested laptop & camera. I'd also learn how to use the requested green screen with filming. In addition to sessions, my teacher gathered professional development articles to enhance my journey geared toward effective digital lessons that tie into movie making & editing. I know once I've completed my own journey & in learning more, my students will also benefit!
Philip Green stated "Good, bad or indifferent, if you are not investing in new technology, you are going to be left behind." I know this to be true.
Using technology enhances learning. You have the chance to help me as a teacher, which would eventually help my students, as well. With my journey to learn more filming & editing, I can turn around and teach my students to do the same. Would you please consider helping me by funding a video camera, laptop & green screen for my educational journey?
