My students have had to overcome many challenges this year. They are Pre-K students who began the year in many different classrooms, then were transferred into my classroom when there were just too many children per teacher. They also have waited for materials to arrive in order to help them learn.
My students are technology natives!
They are familiar with the I-Pads and I-Phones and what they entail. They visit a computer class for specials, and I want to keep the ball rolling with an I-Pad for our classroom. They need to know that technology is so much more than just games to pass the time. I want to impact their brains to see that technology is a resource they have available. If they learn proper use for technology now, imagine when they enter the workforce with the mindedness that they have this wonderful tool at their fingertips! It excites me! I hope it excites others!
My Project
My students will use the I-Pad's various apps available online and in the app store to help them work in small groups with the teacher. They will use literacy apps to help them learn to read, they will use math apps to help with skills such as number recognition, counting, and patterning.
If this project is funded, it will be able to help my students experience technology as "Teach-nology".
It will show them that technology is a tool and so much more than just games to pass time. I want to help the next generation learn that technology is one of the greatest assets they can have.
