My Students

"The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future in life." -Plato The moment my students walk in the door, I want them to feel safe, loved, and welcomed. I want them to know that they can do great things. I want them to experience success.

I teach at a Title I school (about 66% free/reduced lunch) in Oklahoma City.

I currently have 26 students, but have had up to 28 in the classroom at one time. For many of the students, school is their most stable environment. They love to move, talk, and play, and, as I remind them every day, are going to be great leaders in our community.

My Project

Cooperative learning groups are a wonderful tool in kindergarten. It allows the students to work together, practice specified learning goals, and understand that learning is fun! Learning groups also help break up whole group lessons to allow the students to practice the targeted goals using hands on activities.

These hands on activities will allow my students to have fun in working with literacy and math.

Not only will their knowledge grow, but their love for knowledge as well. I want to give every student an opportunity to succeed. Cooperative and differentiated learning groups will help them with that success.
