My students need fun materials to use for literacy and math like "lego letters" and "fishing numbers". We also need chair pockets and binders to organize our room!
We are close to the end of the year and my students have learned so much already! I am incredibly proud of their progress and I want to make sure we end the year strong. Reflecting on on the strengths and needs of each of them, I have created a list of materials that will support our final goals!
As a school, we are very fortunate to have a diverse staff and student body.
70% of our students are minorities; however, our school also faces big challenges with over 60% of our students coming from low income families.
My class is made up of 18 little kindergartners, half of whom are native Spanish speakers and the other half are native English speakers. They are very excited about learning and need the right tools and materials to do so!
My Project
I have searched various websites and selected the materials that will create fun and engaging learning centers for my students. In addition to being engaging, these materials allow for differentiation and will meet the various needs of the students in my classroom. The materials will help my students work on specific math and literacy skills they need to continue to grow and meet end of the year goals.
Some of the literacy materials include letter stamps, word building blocks (these look like Lego pieces!!), word windows to help them read word and erasable highlighters. Some of the math materials include jumbo fun white board spinners, a game to "fish" numbers and stamp pads. In addition, I am also asking for chair pockets, binders and cube timers to help with organization of materials and time!
I want to provide my students the materials that will allow them to have a rich, well-rounded and fun kindergarten end of the year.
With your help we can make this possible! I'm especially excited for the word building blocks because so many of my students love Legos this year. I'm also excited about the number and letter fishing games because this will be a good way to get them to engage in literacy and math incorporating large motor skills!
