My students need floor lamps, mini lights, surge protectors and light bulbs to provide more natural looking light to support better learning and increase focus while learning!
Studies have shown that natural lights support better learning while fluorescent lights can lead to poor attention, concentration, motivation and performance. Imagine what a change it'd be to have natural lighting!

My students come from many different backgrounds but come to school with common goals: to socialize and learn.
Even with fun and exciting lessons, when students are exhausted or uncomfortable in a stoic, uninviting room, learning simply doesn't happen.
Natural lighting, in our case, "daylight light bulbs," help provide a cozier and inviting learning environment. Compared to the typical fluorescent lighting, natural lighting helps students by: boosting learning and assessment scores, increasing mood and health, and they are associated with higher attendance rates.
Our school works hard to provide an outstanding education for students - emotional, social and academic. If something as simple as providing better lighting helps students achieve and learn more, then it's absolutely worth an investment.

My Project
The floor lamps will be in key areas that are typically darker to help light up the room, mood, and mind. The lighting will envelop the room with a warm and inviting glow, providing an environment where students are ready to learn. Christmas mini-lights will help reinforce the pleasant and engaging atmosphere that the teachers and staff work hard to provide for the students. Together, it will provide a sense of warmth and peacefulness, and mentally prepare students throughout the day as a supportive learning environment.
There is a lot of literature supporting the use of natural over fluorescent lighting.
Some as simple as changing the lights can help students perform better academically, improve their moods and are correlated with higher attendance.
The warm lights attribute to the inviting atmosphere, reminding students that school is a safe place to explore ideas, make mistakes, and learn without fear or judgment. Thus, students will be happy to walk into the classroom ready for a fun and challenging year!
