Fun or Dull? Students need ideas and concepts to be meaningful and real. When students can create, design, and apply problem-solving skills, multiple concepts will be embedded into their learning. By funding this project, you will help many students for years create meaning and understanding.
Due to high poverty, my students have a very limited childhood.
In order to solidify and make meaning of concepts, my students need experiences that others may take for granted. With these tools, students will gain experiences by creating and applying knowledge in order to build structures, machines, and stories.
My students will use these Legos for a variety of purposes in the areas of math, science, social studies, writing, and technology. For example, they can build structures with varying areas and perimeters. We can use them to build fractions, ratios, and to show scale. Students will also use them to build simple machines and run experiments for motion. We will also use them to build structures of ancient civilizations and then write about them. We can then use technology to create movies or photos of their work.
Your kind donation will allow my students to use their knowledge which will help them retain information and use higher level thinking to design and create.
These are skills that are necessary for the 21st century! Thank you for considering this project.
