Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Nearly 95% of my students come from families below the poverty line. They are not exposed to technology on a daily basis, and unfortunately my classroom does not have a working computer for the students to use. The iPad will allow my students to be more engaged and prepared for the future.
My second grade students are 95% minority students and all of my students receive free lunch.
50% of the class are English Learners and this iPad would be a the ultimate tool to enhance their English language absorption. I believe that every student deserves the best opportunity to succeed by preparing students for college and/or a future careers. Students have a broad range of learning styles, and the iPad is able to adapt through different applications and reach every one of my students. The inclusion of engaging technologies motivates students to get out of their seat and experience learning directly, "hands-on" literally!
My Project
I am requesting one iPad so my students can harness technology to solve 21st century mathematical problems and supplement their academics with evidence-supported, blended-learning interactive experiences. With a tap of a finger, videos and activities take students on a captivating field trip with interactive lessons, complete with formative quizzes, brought to life with color and movement.
The iPad includes limitless educational applications that allow students to learn challenging real-world problems. There is an app that allows students to write on the interactive white board from their seats! This adds a new type of interactivity along with the ability to immediately assess the understanding/comprehension of the student on the spot. Chalkboards are a thing of the past. And now even dry erase boards are being replaced by interactive iPad-like whiteboards. Please help our future.
My mission is to engage a full range of learners while inspiring their thirst for knowledge and help them learn strategies to be successful, both academically and with real life skills.
My main philosophy is that if I can make learning fun and engaging now, I am paving the way toward creating lifelong learners, positive contributors to society and future leaders.
