This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When my students arrive in the classroom they eat their breakfast in class and after breakfast they proceed to work on their daily work. New Math TEKS have been added to teach Personal Finance. This year they will earn money and will learn how to budget and make use of their money the smart way.

My class consist of all bilingual students, we are a Title I campus.

My students are all economically disadvantage. I have students that are recent immigrants from Mexico or Central America. Our school is located in a community of at risk and economically challenged students. The students are limited with experiencing vacations, going to movies and other entertainment. I like to create real life experiences for my students.

My Project

I plan to utilize the materials to create a personal financial experience. The will earn their play money throughout the school year and they will make purchases on rewards, incentives and treats. This will help them understand the value of coins and bills. They will be able to evaluate and analyze the debit and credits of money. By understanding how deposits and withdrawals work. I will set up a store for them to make purchases. Through this they will understand to budget and how to earn for certain items they want. With this they will learn personal finance.

This will make a difference because I want my students to have real life experiences with money.

Through this they will have a better understanding on counting, managing and spending money. Students will be able to become problem solvers with this project.
