A quote that guides my teaching reads; "One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank nor what my cloths looked like BUT the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child."
My school is a School of Character.
This title says a lot about the students in my school, and specifically the students in my classroom. My fifth grade class is always eager for a new adventure whether it is a new research project, reading a new book, or learning a new method in math. My students like to work together and make discoveries.
My Project
In the past month alone, my students have used technology to research famous Americans, practice for standardized tests, and view videos related to current events. My students have also had numerous opportunities for group work. Combining group work with the use of computers have prove difficult. The use of laptops would allow for easy collaboration between students incorporating technology. Research reports, blog posts, and Powerpoint presentations take on a new meaning with laptops available for student use.
It was one said; “We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.” My students will experience school in a new way with the availability of laptops to enhance their learning experience.
The ideas are limitless and the horizon will be broadened.
