This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our fine arts magnet school is located in a vibrant and diverse community. Although we are in a high poverty district, our school has been able to retain our fine arts magnet status. However, it has been a challenge to find the funding for exciting new materials.

One hundred percent of our students are on free and reduced price lunch.

Many of our families are struggling to get by and do not have spare funds to purchase books for home or to provide Internet. However, my students are enthusiastic, curious learners.

My Project

Other than books my classroom does not have science materials. The Lakeshore Learning materials included in this project would give my students hand's on items that would help them to truly realize a concept, rather then just look at the books. The 3D viewers and slides will allow the student to experience in vivid color and depth a science concept. The animal specimens will allow them to examine very closely the different parts of each animal and draw conclusions. The race car set will dramatically allow the students a chance to experience magnetic concepts. The giant thermometer will allow our class to regularly monitor the temperature inside the classroom and discuss why it may fluctuate.

My students are inquisitive hands on learners.

These materials would allow them to truly understand various scientific concepts. Lakeshore Learning materials were chosen because of their excellent learning value.
