This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my students to be ready to take on their education with all of the skills they need. This will include tech skills and I want to make sure they know how use technology to better themselves.

My students come from a very low income neighborhood with few resources and need to experience the technology the world has in a meaningful way.

I want my students to use tablets in the classroom for programs such as IXL and iRead, but also to play learning games and to have fun. Education is not seen as a high priority to many of our town's parents. I want my students to look at education as a challenge, but also as a way to make themselves into something amazing, instead of whatever comes their way.

My Project

Dragon Touch tablets are small tablets that students will use in a small group setting. They are perfect for classroom programs, such as iRead, and are user friendly, even Kindergarten students can do it. These tablets have a camera and recording capabilities, which will allow students to record their own stories. I will also be able to use apps that will share their recorded stories with their parents via email. Students will be able to work together as partners, playing games, reading ebooks, and creating digital art. Tablets are so versatile, the possibilities are endless for them in Kindergarten.

My classroom right now has 3 iPads that all of my students must share.

These iPads are very old and I am not allowed to add any newer apps to them because they are school property. By having tablets in our classroom that I, the teacher, can manage I will be able to change the material on the tablets to fit my students' needs. Kindergarten students change so much throughout the year and their tech needs to change with them.
