Kindergarten Making Financial and Career Choices! Cha-Ching!
My students need 4 Chromebooks, 20 Magic Boards, community vehicles, building brick people, and headphones to extend learning about financial literacy and money.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
What if you had started saving money in kindergarten? How much would you have saved up? Help me teach my students about wants and needs, goods and services, money and career choices.
My students are eager to come to school and find out what new and exciting things we will do each day.
They attend a Title I school, and few have access to the Internet at home. Students will be excited to learn about the economy, goods and services, and career choices through the Chromebooks this project funds. They like to know they are important and know that they can make choices about their future.
My Project
My students need materials including Chromebooks and headphones, community vehicle toys, and magic boards to learn about financial literacy and money. This project will give my students a great start to planning their financial future. They will learn more about money and identifying coins. They will learn about many career choices using ebooks on the Chromebooks and other educational websites. They will use the community vehicle toys to act out learning and working in the community.
My students can also use the Chromebooks to make videos about what they want to be when they grow up and discuss how they will have to make choices now and in the future to either save or spend money. We will be able to upload these videos to our class website to share with parents.
Give my students a chance to start their lives off with economic and financial literacy education at a young age.
Allow them to imagine being various community helpers and set goals for their future.
