Kindergarten Classroom Redesign

My students need comfortable learning spaces where they can access more information, stay focused and meet kindergarten benchmarks. We need couches, wobble seats and more.

My Students

"If we truly want to prepare our students for the real world, we need to put them in responsive, dynamic environments that reflect life outside of a traditional classroom." -Kayla Delzer A day in my classroom is mainly on the carpet or at their tables. Students need choice in their learning space.

My school is a Title I school with students who have diverse needs.

Specifically in my classroom there are students who come from all different backgrounds; some speak multiple languages and come in each day to fulfill our mission "to become lifelong learners". When my students walk in the door some have been to preschool and can identify letters and sounds and others have not had that exposure. By providing them a diverse learning environment, my goal is to have all students reaching high expectations and achieving their personal goals. In order for each of my students to become "lifelong learners", I need to provide them with experiences to enrich their learning and by changing their environment, I believe I can do that. My Project

My current classroom has a carpet, chairs and tables. My new classroom will have comfortable seating options, and students will be able to work individually or in groups. The options this new furniture will provide my students will open their mind up to responsible seating options to complete their academic work in order to meet the high expectations that are set for them daily. Think about it, would you rather complete your work in a hard chair, that you are bored and tired in...or in a comfortable bean bag, on a couch or comfortably at a table? Students should have the same choices in their daily activities.

This project will make a difference in so many kindergarten students' lives.

It will show them a love for learning, experiences and academia. With seating choices in the classroom students will be able to retain more information, access more material and stay focused on assignments.
