Kids That Build Robots! Create Thanks

My students need Lego bricks and wheels to build their inventions and Sphero robots to make them come to life. They also need a Lego Technic Hovercraft, iPad Minis and an iPod Touch with protective cases.

My Students

Our school robotics club has dreamed up hundreds of ideas! We are in need of Lego bricks and wheels to make our inventions come to life. They are ready for more materials to take the next step with their inventions.

This club of students in grades kindergarten through 5 is absolutely awe-inspiring.

What began as a math extension group during our daily walk-to-math time quickly grew into kids that build robots! These elementary kids have big ideas in their heads and their biggest obstacle and frustration has been a lack of moving parts and bricks. Most recently this club presented at our annual "teacher tech fair" and received rave reviews! Upon completion of their presentations these kids have bigger and brighter ideas for creating robots to assist in the daily-life of humans. These kids come to school 45 minutes before their classes begin to build their robots. They are hard-working, highly-motivated children and we are lucky to have them at our school! They are all academic stages and abilities who form an entire group of children working together to do big things!

My Project

These resources will be gobbled by children with big ideas! They actually already have the plans developed and have told me the resources that they need to take the next steps. These are the resources included with this grant. The Lego bricks and wheels will build the models for their robots. The Sphero's, iPad Minis and iPod Touches will be the power of their robots: the things that make they come to life!

Kids that build robots are going to change all of our lives!

Imagine beginning in kindergarten to invent robots that solve problems...these children are the future of medicine, engineering, architecture, or whatever other career field they choose in adulthood.
