Keep the AFJROTC Drill Team on Point

My students need 20 drill rifle cases for their JROTC competitive Drill Team.

My Students

Aviation High school has an award winning AFJROTC Drill Team. The cadet corps numbers close to 300 strong and has been in existence for more than 20 years. The kids follow the core values of integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do.

AFJROTC Cadets take part in community service events such as park clean ups, Juvenile Diabetes, Breast Cancer and Kidney Disease walks as well as parades, Drill competitions and color guard events.

Two years ago they received accolades by earning the Outstanding Organization Award and last year the cadets earned the Distinguished Unit award. The kids are hard chargers and strive to do their very best in every situation. The AFJROTC unit has seven drill teams. More than half of them use drill team rifles. They practice spinning drills as well as march with them to a preset sequence that is judged at drill meets. Up until two weeks ago, we had 18 Drill Rifles spread out over 40 users. We asked the USAF for additional practice rifles and we recently received them. The drill rifles are clean and crisp and will make an outstanding impression at the next drill meet.

My Project

The challenge we are seeking to solve is that we would like to keep them in display condition. We need practice drill rifle cases. They are not exorbitantly expensive, but we are looking to fund enough for 20 rifles. The 18 new ones and two that currently do not have a case. Plano has he 10470 Gun Guard SE Single Rifle Case for $23.99 per case. The cases fit one rifle per unit. The reason we don’t go for the case that holds two is because the practice rifles weigh about 20lbs, and the cadets would have a difficult with the weight of a case holding two drill rifles.

Donations will allow us to buy cases that will keep the drill rifles clean, dry and serviceable.

The cases will not only protect them but also make them much more transportable and easily stored. The cases will also bring long term sustainability to the drill rifles and will keep them looking sharp for years to come. I would add the cases will also give the cadets a sense of pride as they walk into the competitions looking like a unit that has excellence in all they do.
