My students need two iPads to help facilitate functional communication in the classroom.

My Students

I am a teacher of the speech and language impaired working with students in a low income, urban, school district. I service over 70 students with moderate to severe speech and language impairments.

My students range in ages from 5-11 years old.

They have difficulty across all academic environments from a simple task of saying "Good Morning" to participating in classroom work and discussions. My students thrive on routine. They love coming to school work hard daily to over come their disabilities.

My Project

My students would benefit from two Apple iPads in various ways. First, the technology and apps would provide them a voice! A pathway to friendships; relationships that so many others take for granted. We would also use the iPads for social stories, direct language learning, and fluency streaming.

Having technology in our classroom would change the lives of my students.

The apps currently available would give them opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings which are suppressed by their disability. The iPads would allow them to participate in daily classroom routines and discussions.
