My students need an iPad to continue to develop their academic skills. The iPad offers nearly an infinite number of learning opportunities for our students!
Our 6th grade students firmly believe that if they want to learn, nothing can stop them! Students in 6th grade are always on the prowl for exciting ways to extend their learning opportunities through online learning experiences!
Our school is a diverse learning center comprised of motivated 21st century learners!
Our students have benefited from a renovated building which still boast of original 19th century hardwood floors, high ceilings, spacious classrooms and hallways. Blending the old with the new our build consists of a renovated learning wing and a new multipurpose room, cafeteria, computer lab and library.
While many of our students stake a claim to Appalachian heritage, our diverse student population allows our students to enjoy the cultural richness found in Ohio's largest school district.
Despite the richness of cultural diversity, over 90% of our students are economically disadvantaged. Economic concerns reflect the larger context of the school neighborhood which has experience significant structural changes in job access in the last decade.
Our school is staffed by committed teachers, paraprofessionals, adult volunteers, and a focused administrator.
My Project
21st century students require engaging online learning experience. The iPad we are requesting for our room will be used to offer extended learning opportunities across the curriculum. Students have shown a commitment to taking advantage of online learning experiences. Our 6th grade students have achieved high levels of state and national achievement on First In Math (progression-based online math learning experience). Students also enjoy access to i-Ready (individualized online reading and math).
In addition to online learning experiences, students will use the iPad to develop safe online communication and research skills. These skills are crucial in the development of our students as 21st century students equipped to compete and succeed in the global marketplace.
Each donation is an investment in the educational career of a young student that likely will not have access to engaging online learning experiences outside of their school experience.
The opportunity to use technology is a skill that students can leverage throughout their educational careers through middle and high school and through college.
