My classroom is an interactive and engaging room where students reach the fourth grade Common Core standards. On a daily basis, students are challenged to reach their potential as not only students but learners.
I teach an enthusiastic group of fourth grade students.
In our classroom, my students strive to learn and collaborate no matter their background or life experiences. In the last few months of getting to know my students I have seen them truly thrive with the use of technology. Most of these students use technology in one form or another in their daily lives. Having these iPads in the classroom will support student learning by giving them access to materials that they often use at home or will encounter in real life applications. My school has one small computer lab with 30 computers that serves 630 students. With these iPads, my students will be able to retrieve technology that they desire while also being supported at a level of learning that is appropriate for them.
My Project
I will use these iPads as a tool to help reach the many different types of learners in my classroom. Every child learns at pace that is just right for them and having this technology at their fingertips will make knowledge more accessible while also providing practice with our 21st Century technology.
I will use this donation as a teaching tool but also as a resource for research and investigation projects that are done in our classroom. For example, when doing our California Mission projects, my students will be able to use these iPads to research their mission. They will take virtual tours of their mission and grow a deeper connection of their mission that cannot be made through teacher centered instruction. This student centered research will be applied across curriculum in the classroom. From science to math to social studies, students will have all kinds of information in their hands with these iPads.
The donation of these iPads to our classroom will impact student learning in many ways.
It will connect the students to the outside world and have them in control of their own learning. The iPads will make teaching and learning more engaging, accessible, and prepare these children for the continuously changing world that they live in.
