This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

To Our Donors - A typical day in our first grade class is with literacy centers. Currently, our students are limited to worksheets and word sorts. I would like to give the students an opportunity to be able to interact with literacy through iPads, rather than just through worksheets.

Many of our students' minds work so fast it is almost hard to keep up with them.

In order to strengthen and encourage their interests in their education, I would like to bring to them resources where they can further develop the content that they are taught.

My Project

My students need five iPads. For literacy centers, I would like to provide opportunities for students to listen to ebooks. For mathematics, I would like to give them the opportunity to play with MathCraft instead of just watching me demonstrate it on the board. For STEAM, I would like to have them be able to interact with simulations online to visualize and understand further what they are building.

Donations would strengthen and support their conceptual knowledge in mathematics and engineering, as well as their ability to read.

In reading, there are applications that model for students prosody (fluency, accuracy, and expression) and how to track while they read.
