Remember what it was like when all you had were worksheets and textbooks to learn from? Imagine what you could have done in a classroom full of iPads, iPods, Nooks, and laptops.
In today's world, children are wired to use technology to enhance learning.
Engagement is KEY!
As we all say, "It's A Great Day to Be at B.!" B. is a school that consists of about 500 students in grades K-5. These students are smart, eager, and goal oriented, and they love challenges. We are a technology magnet school that has many standards to accomplish in order for our students to be introduced and proficient in using up-to-date technology.
Many of our students are labeled gifted students and do not learn effectively using only textbooks. Our students are interested and eager to learn from technology available to the classroom. They are excited and engaged when they can learn from a form of technology instead of a textbook. This is why I am asking for 5 iPad devices to help enhance my teaching and student learning.
My Project
Imagine writing a paper, recording yourself reading it and then displaying it for others through a QR code. All the reader would have to do is scan the QR code using their QR scanner to have access to your story and listen to you reading it. Can you imagine the engagement the students would have in wanting to complete a writing piece knowing they would be able to use a form of technology (iPads) to accomplish the above description?
After a lot of research on an iPad, I've found that the ideas on how to use this technology are unbelievable. They can be used to teach with QR Codes and Literature Circles. There are apps available to facilitate learning and practicing content taught in class. Students can use iPads to turn reviewing content taught into a game when students use the iPads to "buzz" in. These iPads also make possible math practice through apps. M students will not only be excited and engaged but the level of rigor will increase which is the goal of any educator.
Any donations to this project will increase my goal of enhancing my students' learning.
Learning will reach a new level which my students have never experienced before. My students would leave elementary school with a new love for learning and not fear new technology as it comes available over the years to come. In a world that is technologically advanced, my students need the opportunity to incorporate this piece of technology into their learning.
