iPads for First Graders That Want More from Learning

My Students

My 1st grade students are curious, eager 6 and 7 year Old's who embrace new material with open minds, and take chances to build upon their current background knowledge.

My kiddies are a very diverse bunch, some with a very supportive home life, and some with the opposite. Something they all have in common is their thirst to know MORE. Unfortunately we come from a school where 1 additional computer does not give them all the opportunity to explore and learn with technology.

My Project

First grade is such an important and exciting year -- it is when a child makes the most progress! Students typically come into 1st grade reading at a level 4 and are expected to leave reading at a level 16. They come in with some number sense and understanding of solving addition and subtraction problems. There are some students who will hit every benchmark when they are supposed to, but there are many students who need interventions and more assistance, and many students who need to be enriched. iPads will give every student opportunity to practice reading and mathematical skills during center and zone rotations through the various educational and exciting apps.

Today's technology has so much to offer students in the classroom.

Having an iPad will make learning fun while also personalizing learning to meet each student's particular need. We hope you will help make a difference in our classroom.
