Ms. Ramey from Urbana IL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 3 iPad minis to increase and improve their early literacy and math skills in a way that is fun and motivating to them in this age of technology.

One of my favorite quotes comes from the late Walt Disney. Mr. Disney once said, "If you can dream it, you can do it." This quote goes perfectly with my project. I want my students to walk away from elementary school feeling like they can do anything and technology can help to open up many doors.
I would describe our school as one of the most exciting elementary schools in the district.
Even though our school doesn't have a lot of resources, our staff and students are dedicated to making the school as wonderful as possible. Having around 70 percent of our students on free and reduced lunch, and our district struggling with funds itself, we definitely aren't the most high-tech place to be. The great news is that we have flexible and adaptable students. Together with their enthusiasm and our teacher dedication, we have all committed to becoming life-long learners and are always trying to find ways to make education fun.
With the three iPads I am hoping to receive, I plan on doing many things. First of all, the iPads would provide my students with a fun engaging way to help the students learn early math and reading skills. The iPads have many interactive activities that can be downloaded. Another important thing that the iPads would do would be to help my students with Autism. The iPads have many applications to help with communication and social development that would allow my students to interact more successfully with their peers. Along with social development, the iPad would also help my students with autism with their advanced math skills. By using the iPads, my students could continue growing their math skills exponentially while also improving their technology skills. In this growing age of technology, technology skills are going to be crucial for all of my students.
As a special education teacher in a low-income neighborhood, our teachers and students are constantly fighting against stereotypes and trying to find ways around the lack of resources.
This project could help to show our students that when you work hard, you can do anything you want. These iPads can help to give these students the confidence and courage they need to be successful in this ever changing world. These iPads have the ability to open so many doors for my students with disabilities.
