This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are lower socioeconomic status which limits their access to 21 century learning tools such as an iPad. As we move toward National Common Core Standards, it will be essential for students to learn how to access academic content through such devices.

I have a class of 30 third grade students.

The students in my class are of low socioeconomic status. For most of them English is a second language. 85% of our students are on free or reduced lunches. They are children who are excited about learning and want a better life than what their parents have, they need help in reaching their goal. With the budget issues in the state of California, we do not have the money for the technology my students need to help them succeed in the future.

My Project

With the use of 2 iPads in the classroom, my students will be able to access more than 200,000 apps to help them supplement their math skills such as multiplication and division facts. They will be able to use these apps to help with their reading and writing of the English language.

Living in the state of California, our school budget has been drastically cut.

Our limited resources will not allow us as a school to purchase items such as iPads. How can we expect our students to compete with the rest of the nation or the world if the resources are not there. Most of these students have never seen an iPad. Not only will the technology encourage these students to learn, but will assist in them making a difference in the future.
