Math isn't always the most exciting subject for elementary school students. I would like to find a way to make learning math more exciting for my students; I want them to love it as much as I do! I plan on doing this by having my 4th and 5th grade students create interactive math notebooks.
My students are average 4th and 5th grade students.
They enjoy coming to school and are excited about learning new things. They also want to do well academically. Our school has a wonderful community feel, with our students and their families always feeling welcome at our building.
My Project
I plan on using the notebooks, colored paper, fasteners, and other materials for my project to create useful and inviting interactive math notebooks. I have found through my years of teaching students do not know how to take notes or how to access them again once we have moved on. I want to teach my students how to best utilize their notes, a skill they can use later in life, and I want to make taking notes in math fun. I plan on doing this through the creation of interactive notebooks. The colorful paper will make it easy to find information and will engage the students more in the note taking process.
It will improve my classroom by making it easier for my students to access the math information they have learned during the school year.
I would like to think this will also help them become more interested in school in the future.
