If you were to step into my classroom on any given day you would see 22 energetic Pre-K and Kindergarten students receiving small group instruction and having a blast working with their partners during "Workstations". My students gain the most from this small teacher to child ratio!
I teach in an urban Title I district in Texas.
My school is located is a very low socioeconomic area that does not always have the best resources available to the families who call it home. Despite where my students live, they come to school daily eager to learn!
My class consists on 22 energetic students, 9 Kindergarten and 13 Pre-K students. Our classroom is extremely diverse since we are an ESL class with students from several different ethnicity's who speak several different languages!
My Project
I am proud to be a 21st century teacher who loves to integrate technology into my classroom and lessons. My students eyes light up when I present them with new and exciting mediums to work with. This is why I would like to teach them how to create, scan and work with QR codes through the use of two iPod Touches. These devices will be used daily in our workstations and small group activities.
My students also have all of their hard work displayed on a classroom website for their loved ones to view. Each week I take photos during each activity we complete and of other outstanding work the children create so they can show others how hard they working. Currently I am taking these photos with my phone which does not have the best resolution.
I am asking for a classroom digital camera to take weekly pictures with and also so I can teach the students the basics of camera etiquette. I would love to have a classroom "paparazzi" helper each week to get a look at our lessons through their eyes!
My classroom parents LOVE to see their children working and the learning process behind the products they bring home each Friday.
With the use of the new digital camera I will be able to show them even more, with a better picture quality.
Integrating the use of QR codes, iPod Touches and a digital camera will help my students learn and perfect real life skills that will be beneficial and applicable for the rest of their lives.
