My Students

I truly believe in the statement by Diana Oblinger that states, there are a lot of positive uses to the technology in the classroom. The ultimate objective is to find the right path for students to maximize learning. As a teacher my goal is to maximize learning!

I currently teach at a Pre K-5th grade school in my home town.

We are a tight community that works together. Our parental support is truly amazing! Our local school has about 550 students. I moved from SPED to 1st grade a few years ago. I have a wonderful class of 18 children this year. I currently teach all subjects in 1st grade. I love my job and students!

My Project

As a former SPED teacher, I know the importance of individual student levels. With the use of an iPad, my students can work in independent iPad centers to enhance reading skills, comprehension, phonics or other ELA items. Our school set up an iPad Website a year ago to help parents find apps to assist with skills at home. There is one link that shows free apps. I would begin my iPad journey using those and hopefully can find funding later to help add to my reading iPad collection. The beauty of having iPads lie with how quickly students adapt to using them. We live in a technology society that truly embraces new products. iPads and tablets tie skills, students and learning into a positive experience. This summer our school hosted an iPad session for the teachers to learn a little more about them. I attended the professional development session and left excited the new possibilities of reading center work for my 1st graders.

Diana Oblinger once stated, there are a lot of positive uses to the technology in the classroom.

The ultimate objective is to find the right path for students to maximize learning. I completely agree with that. I also personally feel that having my students engaged with an iPad and appropriate apps will indeed maximize learning in my classroom!
