This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember listening to a read-a-long book that helped your imagination soar and your love for reading and writing take flight? Help me do the same for my students. I am a teacher in an amazing Abbott classroom of 15 wonderful 4 year olds eager to learn and in need of comfy reading spot.

Most of my students are bilingual and having these materials will help them become more expressive in the English Language.

My students soak up knowledge like sponges & they love learning new things. They live in an urban town & most come from low income families. I want to expand their language and literacy capabilities for a brighter future!

My Project

The seating set will help them sit comfortably in our library as they enjoy reading/looking at books. The read-a-long books will help them connect words on a page with spoken words and allow them to enjoy the new listening center I will be creating with these books. In addition, they can then transfer their love of reading into becoming authors themselves and create their own stories and books in our writing center. This is how they will use the paper, envelopes, crayons, and so much more.

With your donations I can attain the materials they need to expand their vocabulary, gain a love for reading and a joy for writing.

They will succeed in school and have a brighter future. These materials will open their minds to a whole new world in the journey and love of books. Maybe we will create some authors and illustrators for our future?
