This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
When you first become an author, you want to share your work! My students transform themselves into authors by sitting in an author's chair to share their writing to the class.
I have a very rambunctious group of 35 five year-olds!
They are so eager to learn and are very curious about the world! My students love learning new things and sharing those new things with the class. Every chance we get, my students are constantly writing and creating. My students often get the chance to celebrate their work with their peers and cheer each other on.
My Project
What I am requesting is a kid's sized chair to be used as an "author's chair" in our classroom. My students are so motivated to write and wanting to share their creations with the class. This is a time where my students get to celebrate what they wrote and help my students learn from each other. When my students share, they usually get to sit in an author's chair. This helps them to build self confidence and feel good about their writing.
Just recently our author's chair broke.
After many attempts at trying to fix it, we had to throw it out. It definitely feels like we are missing are major part of our classroom community. Please help us to bring it back to our classroom!
