This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I believe in innovation and that the way you get innovation is you fund research and you learn the basic facts. "-Bill Gates. I teach Research Skills to 8th graders. My biggest challenge is providing them innovative ways to show them the value of research. And how to apply what they have learned.

My students are predominantly of Hispanic ethnicity with a poor to middle class economic background.

All year my students have been excited researching their chosen projects. We have some exciting discussions. As my students are coming to the end of their research. I would like to provide them the opportunity to take their research to the next level. Our school sits in the heart of an urban area yet maintains a peaceful and safe learning environment for our students.

My Project

My student's have been researching various science and engineering topics for most of the year. They have read the articles, written papers and are creating their presentations. Having these models would allow them to take their research projects to the next level. My students will build better bridges and test new roller coaster designs and complete and apply the engineering concepts that they are studying. Your donation will transform our classroom into a true learning lab.

Students often think research is just writing papers however your donations will allow my students to see the value of research.

But how to apply research to real world applications. These models would allow my students to explore their areas of interest in a realistic way. By using the models it would allow the students to learn about engineering but allow them to become the next generation of scientist and engineers.
