My students need an iPad and protective case for literacy, phonemic awareness, and math immersion. This will be especially vital for our ELL and ESL students.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Growing up with technology as an ELL/ ESL student at a Title 1 school? Absolutely! iCan learn with an iPad!
This school year will lay the foundation for elementary and secondary education so that our students can be proud graduates in 2026.
I teach full day Kindergarten at a Title 1 school. Our school is located in a poorer rural area of the state, with families falling under unemployment and high in poverty. The student population is 85% Hispanic, 7% African American, 3% Caucasian, and 2% Asian.
Most of the students in my class are English Language Learners. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students face challenges in their daily lives that many of us could not imagine, yet they come to school with positive attitudes and are eager to learn.

My Project
The truly unique thing about technology such as an iPad is that the opportunities to use this tool are limitless. Slower Learners will be able to utilize apps that practice Letter recognition and handwriting. Higher Learners will be able to start sight word reader books. ELL students will be able to obtain the necessary supports for practicing their foundational English skills. Math applications will also allow students necessary practice they need to succeed in Elementary School. The opportunities to use this tool in the classroom is completely limitless and I am eager to utilize this technology in the classroom with my little Learners.
A few examples:
I can draw, work out problems, erase, highlight, enlarge, stream a video clip, stop action, rewind instantaneously . Each student can then practice on the pad in real time.
Think of it as a "Smart Board" for the children (interactive learning).
I can record a lesson with voice in real time and post for kids who are absent.
This iPad will drastically change the lives of my students for years to come.
It will give them the hands on practice necessary for lifelong literacy and mathematics success. Critics might say that kindergarteners are simply too young to use technology in a meaningful way; however, there are many positive qualities to modern technologies. The technologies that benefit young children the greatest are those that are interactive and allow the child to develop their curiosity and problem solving.
