Mr. Jordan from Sunrise FL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 3 Kindles and cases to record and act out Readers Theater. This will allow students to build fluency and make reading more authentic.

Lights, Camera, Action my students scream as the cameras load and they transform into stars. My students are a passionate group of fourth graders who want nothing more than to become stars on camera! They are fired up, excited, and anxious to make their acting debuts.
Fun, energetic, passionate, awesome; those are just a few words that describe the students in my class.
My students are a group of fourth grade students at a Title I elementary school in the Sunshine State of Florida. Over 65% of the students at the school (about 75% of my class) are students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. Being a Title I school means that we sometimes don't receive enough funding to get the best resources. A third of my students fall in the lower percentile of our school and struggle with both reading and math. I also have some higher students who can benefit from enrichment. Lastly, I have some students who are on level who often require a little review. My students are always eager to learn, and they work hard to grasp concepts.
My students will use Kindles to record Readers Theater. Recording Readers Theater will give my champions a chance to become stars on the big screen. They will put both their musical and acting talents to the test for my class to see. This will also have an education component behind it. Since I have a group of fourth graders who struggle with fluency this year, this project will also be designed to tackle that issue as well. Students will practice text at their level over and over again. Students will then record their performances using the tablets and replay them to listen to themselves read. If students' fluency is where it is supposed to be, students will keep the video. If fluency is not where is supposed to be, students will practice more and rerecord their videos. Students will also use the Kindles for many research projects that will contain an art component for display purposes.
A donation to this project will help my students to increase their fluency and to allow them to blossom into the stars that they were born to be.
It will also be an investment into the lives of students who can use a little love and compassion. It will help my dream of building CHAMPION students who go on to change the world for the better. It will help to provide my students with technology that they wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford.
