Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Listening is the secret to discover great stories" - Fyrefly My students love to read stories, but imagine if they listened to a story all on their own and could paint vivid pictures in their minds. Their discovery would be endless!
My students are fourth graders at a title one school.
Most students receive free or reduced lunch. They come to school everyday ready to learn, but sometimes I don't have the materials necessary to enrich their education. Having the necessary tools to enrich their education will enable them to reach their potential and be successful leaders for our future.
My Project
Who says students can't be good listeners? Not only can they listen attentively, but they also deserve to enrich their education through listening activities. My students will be able to participate in a listening station and computer programs with the materials provided. I will be able to have a group of 5 students at a time on my iPad with the splitter and headphones. They will get to listen to stories that are on their own reading levels. Through this activity they will be able to inference and paint pictures in their mind better. The headphones will also be useful when they work on the computer. They use a program called i-station, which helps them improve their fluency, spelling and comprehension skills. It is in the form of an interactive game, and they haven't been able to use it because it requires headphones for the sound. The headphone covers will help to keep the headphones sanitary, so multiple students could use the same set.
