My Students
My students biggest challenge in my class is understand of the design process. This is compounded by them being split into two rooms because of space requirements. They power through to create fantastic projects like the ones in the picture on the 3-D printer.
My students come from a low social economic background where attention and knowledge is something they hunger for.
They are curious and willing to give 110% if challenged correctly. As with most of the country, state standardized test tend to drive instruction in my district. It is my feeling education should yield results on these type of tests but there is more to a child's education than their stats. I would describe my school itself as a focused place, every minute of every day is focused on education.
My Project
My students need 2 projectors, with accessories, to be able to participate in instruction in multiple rooms at once. My students will use the projectors to follow instruction at their work station. Now my students in my second room have to cram around the doorway or in the other room and watch my instruction and then go back and try to remember how it was done unlike the students who can see the board form their seats and can follow along with instruction as I go through group activities. I utilize this method of instruction 50% of the time as the other 50% is project based. My students who are in a separate room because of space problems are at a disadvantage and have less time to work as they have to ask questions multiple times because they can not follow along as I give instruction, tips, and address concerns.
My project will make a difference because I will be able to deliver instruction in two places at once so my students can follow along with my and I then can check for understanding as they follow along.
This will give my students more work time to complete assignments, and allow me to spend more time with each student as I will not have to teach every lesson twice.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
