My Students

GOING to school is not an option for all students. My kids miss out on science experiments, computer labs, lockers and classmates. Having a 3-G pad would enable me to bring in everything but lockers! Through various apps and face-time, I could bring my students the best parts of school.

My students are stuck at home or in the hospital.

Many have huge medical needs and do not have internet or other technology available to them. I bring school to THEM. I work with an extremely wide range of students [from pre-school special needs (PPCD) through high school Advanced Placement (AP) and everything in between]. What they have in common is a right to an education and a teacher who cares that they get the best education I can bring them!

My Project

Having a 3-G iPad will help me better teach each of my students in a way that motivates! Having a touch screen will allow my lower-level student learn cause and effect, whether a visual response, such as a lightning bolt following their finger or an auditory response, such as music. More advanced students tire of rote drills and having an iPad for use with these students will enable me to reinforce important skills that require repetition (especially for special needs students) in a way that keeps learning interesting. In the home setting, science lab activities are greatly modified. At many educational levels, Explorer Learning can give the students science activities, simulating experiments that I cannot replicate any other way in the home, thereby giving the students a better understanding of scientific concepts.

Home-bound students miss out on so much!

When I began working with one student, he said, "I just want to go to middle school." While he can't GO to school, giving him and my other students access to a 3-G iPad will give them access to the internet, great apps AND their classes. Through the wonders of FaceTime, students can JOIN their classes from time to time, enabling them to experience school, keeping them motivated and giving them a better education that includes technology.
