Remember sitting in class and needing to wiggle just to focus?
I have a group of wonderful energetic 4th graders.
These students are excited to learn something new everyday. Students often come to school with high energy due to many different factors. Now try to imagine having to sit still for any length of time in a classroom. Nearly impossible! I would love for my students to be able use the stability products to help them focus.
Our school is part of a wonderful, small community. We are located in a rural section of the foothills of North Carolina. Our school is a Title One funded school with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
This year, my students are learning habits to be successful. Making good choices are part of this process. Students will be allowed to make the best choices about where they do their best learning. Giving students the choice to use different seating will allow students to move around the classroom to work where they are most productive. Stability balls and discs have many positive benefits to students. The seats allow movement which has been known to promote focus. When students sit on stability balls, both sides of their brains are engaged in keeping their bodies centered on the stability ball or disk. Thus when the brain is stimulated, it's more focused on learning. This alternative seating also maintains a better posture for students. Correct posture promotes more concentration for learning and teaches correct habits for a healthy body.
Donating to this project will give students the opportunity to have control over their learning.
This project will allow students to have some movement and maintain focus on academics at the same time.
