I am a new teacher building a classroom community. We are short of some very important components to get us rolling together.
I teach 28 amazing students in a blended 4th/5th class in an urban setting.
Our school is very diverse. From family to ethnic to economic diversity, we celebrate everyone. Our school is also an inclusive school which means that we serve students with special needs in every classroom. We teach acceptance and a peaceful approach to learning.
My Project
I am asking for varied materials to help set up my new classroom. We need a Math Library of Games, Upper Grade Math Manipulative Materials and a set of 12 sand timers. We also need Nonfiction Reading Comprehension Cards, Learning Science Activity Tubs and 2 sets of Science Snap Circuits. All of these learning materials will be used during small group time. This is when students break up into small groups and work together in centers.
I also need some organizational materials such as, 8 table bins so the students can organize their pencils and scissors. A 'Turn in your Work' organizer for the students and Write and Wipe markers for using small white boards.
I am also needing some teacher resource books like 4th and 5th grade Math Minute and Grammar Minutes. The Common Core Display cards for 4th and 5th grade will help guide us.
Let's not forget the jar of 200 marbles that students earn when they are on task.
All of these things will help us along our way.
