My Students

My hope is that I am for my students what my third grade teacher was for me. She fostered my love of learning. She encouraged my passion for writing. Most of all, she made me feel important and special. My goal is to have the patience, determination, and tools to do the same.

Our school is a great place to be.

In our school, third, fourth, and fifth grade students attend four classes each day. This allows each teacher to specialize in a specific subject area. This platooning structure requires much collaboration among the teachers. Our students are hard working and respectful. Their day is filled with learning. While traveling from classroom to classroom, the students adapt well to the different structures. From collaborative math groups, to science labs, to writing workshop and guided reading, students are engaged in a variety of learning environments and teaching styles.

My Project

This program allows students to practice and master math, language arts, and science skills through online lessons, tests, and games. In addition, students may access this program from home to continue practicing these skills after school. This also allows parents to see what their child is working on and achieving. Meanwhile, student progress is tracked for parents, students, and teachers to see progress. Students can even work on remedial or advanced material, based on their needs. Finally, teachers are able to print additional resources to further assist students in reaching their goals.

We have a need for a standards-based program to help support student learning.

The benefit of Study Island is that it will help teachers see student growth and needs and include parents in the educational process. The bonus in all of this is that the students are learning, using technology, and having fun!
