Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine the excitement of using an iPad. Imagine what it feels like to no longer have an iPad in your classroom because the school where you used this iPad suffered devastation during Hurricane Sandy. Now imagine being displaced and having to attend another school.

The students in my class come from a small town, which has one elementary school.

The community is very close knit. Many of my student's parents are graduates of this same elementary school. My third and fourth grade LLD students become so excited when they see an iPad. They truly enjoy using this technology to learn and to practice skills.

My Project

Last year my students used their iPads in their writing celebrations. They presented their "How To" books and personal narratives to their classmates and their families using this technology. We were planning on using the iPads this year for similar activities, however with the iPads having been destroyed in the floods of Hurricane Sandy this will not happen. Writing becomes more engaging when they are able to create pieces using the iPad. Please help my students!

Last year my school district added iPads to to help improve reading, writing and mathematics performance.

The use of the iPad proved to be beneficial. The engagement of the iPad and knowing that the end product was going to end up on an iPad truly excited my students. Please help my students continue to grow as learners. I can only imagine the smiles on their faces if I was able to help bring back one of their favorite learning tools that they lost as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
