My Students

My high school is a school with over 60% of students participating in the free or reduced school lunch program. We have over 2,000 students currently enrolled in grades ninth through twelfth. It is my hope that this opportunity will help support the arts in our under funded program.

Students in my program have been apart of a music program for at least 3 years.

Most students come from 3 different middle school programs in our district and each one brings their own unique personalities and experiences to our large and growing program. By this time in their music education careers they have become very dedicated to their band and their craft.

My Project

Our growing marching band program is the largest performing group from our school. We are the most visual aspect of the program our community sees. We have begun the process of using technology in our shows, and it is our goal to allow our students to record sound effects and voice overs to play through our sound system for the shows. We are working with college level professors to teach the students what Apps they can use to create a better project to showcase. However, with the lack of technology in our school, we do not have an adequate devices for our students to work on.

It is our goal this year to grow literacy in our community.

We are designing ideas now to bring a children's book to life on a marching band field. The iPad will helps us design and perform our show. It is our hope to both educate and entertain spectators this upcoming season.
