Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help us be the best we can be! My future third grade students are going to be challenged with the task of taking the STAR test which is our rigorous state test. For many of my students, they need constant direct instruction to prepare them for the challenging tasks ahead.
My students come from various backgrounds and are diverse.
Some have the parental support at home to help them be successful, some do not. Some live with a single parent, some are living with mom some of the time and/or dad for some of the time. Some have learning disabilities, and some have physical disabilities. All in all, my students have varying needs. As their future teacher, I am trying to anticipate as many of their needs as possible so that they will have the necessary tools for success. In spite of their difficulties, they are all entitled to the absolute best materials and teaching that I can provide them.
My Project
The resources I have requested will help prepare my students not only for STAAR, but in daily comprehension and math fact fluency. The daily comprehension notebooks will give my students the chance to engage in meaningful comprehension. The activities in the notebooks are high interest, which will be very important for some of my reluctant learners. These notebooks will also serve as a teaching aid for me because it will allow me to measure my students strengths and weaknesses in reading comprehension. The math items I have requested will allow my future students to participate in meaningful and rigorous math practice, which is necessary for their state test. I am a firm believer in making learning fun, and I believe that these materials will help me do that.
Any donations made to support this project will be beneficial to my students.
With the education budget of Title 1 schools shrinking, it makes it harder for educators to request materials that are beneficial for students. If my project gets fully funded, my students will receive a gift that will be invaluable. It will show them that people care enough to support them even if they do not know them. What a great message to send to my future third graders?! Help me make a difference in their lives.
